The interesting life of a professional minor league hockey player

Toyota or Ford??

Now I know this seems like I’m running an add right now but trust me I’m not…but I really wish I was so if Toyota is reading, call me PLEASE!!.. Anyways so the season had ended and it was time for everyone to drive home. We were based out of Salt Lake City, UT and a lot of us had to drive up to different places in Canada. For me it was about a 16 hour drive so I packed up my Toyota Tundra and drove 16 hours straight to my hometown and I have to say the Toyota didn’t cause any problems at all (besides guzzling gas as fast as it could).

Now my buddy, on the other hand, drives a Ford. He lives about 20 hours away from Utah. The first few hours go by great and he’s not having any problems but as soon as he gets into Wyoming, about 20 miles from the nearest house or gas station, his car breaks down and he’s stranded on the side of the road. He sends me a picture of his Ford with the hood up and what looks like steam/smoke coming from the engine with the caption “Never buy a Ford”. I’m glad he had his cellphone on him because there’s not a lot of traffic on the I-80 in Wyoming, if his cellphone had lost battery he might still be out there today… pushing his Ford back to Canada.

If you are deciding between Ford or Toyota I would highly recommend Toyota. Ive heard a few wild stories about Fords breaking down but i rarely hear them about Toyota, although I wasn’t kidding about the gas, Toyota Tundras are terrible on gas.

One more quick story to make this the longest blog post ever. I had a roommate in junior who also drove a Ford and I a Toyota (different vehicle and player from the above story). We played in Manitoba where it routinely got below -25C. He would plug his block heater into the wall every night and my Toyota came from California so it didn’t have a block heater as it never gets cold there. Well on about 7-8 occasions the weather would get -30C+ and his car wouldn’t start in the morning even after being plugged in all night and my Toyota (which i took terrible care of) started EVERY SINGLE TIME. My roommate would be so frustrated with his vehicle not working and I would tell him every time when we drove to the rink “You got to get a Toyota”.

So Toyota, you’re welcome for the free advertisement that will probably get zero views πŸ™‚
